The air conditioner compressor is the heart of the refrigeration system and functions as a suction, compression, and circulation pump. The compressor can be regarded as the interface between the low-pressure end and the high-pressure end of the refrigerant circuit, and the refrigerant is sucked and compressed from the low-pressure side to raise the temperature and pressure, and then pumped into the high-pressure side to reciprocate.

SMP manufactures Electric Compressors:

  • Axial Inverter
  • Top Inverter

The compressor is constructed from one fixed and one rotating scroll in an offset spiral configuration. Shaft rotation creates spaces of varying volume between the 2 scrolls, causing refrigerant to be sucked in and compressed.
