The batteries are normally used to power the starter and other accessories such as lights, radios, heaters, etc. There are several different types of regulators that can be used by the end customer. These various types and methods are selected based on many factors such as cost, expected load drain, expected vehicle use, environmental conditions, along with several other application specifics.
